Kiev Zoo

Pictures from our trip to the zoo on Saturday.  We weren't sure how it would go, since she didn't want to go anywhere near even the cats at the orphanage, but as soon as she realized that all creatures were behind fences, she calmed down.

(Ben took a lot of animal pictures, but you know what a zoo looks like.  This one had a lot of shade and fruit trees and was very pleasant.  Small and not too busy on a Saturday.)

Being at the zoo was a blessing because we could often just let her run wherever she wished.  In the city we have to hold on to her hand all of the time so she doesn't bolt into the street -- she doesn't have enough experience to understand the dangers and keep to the sidewalk.  Being tethered like that makes her frustrated.  She appreciated the new freedom.







She ran around for the first hour but spent the second in arms.  Too tired!

Everyone else stopped for ice cream cones, but she wanted juice.  She says that ice cream is too cold.  I don't think ice cream was a staple at the orphanage. ;)

We got to the monkeys last, which was a pity, because by then she was ready for a nap and not interested in looking at anything anymore.  Both thumbs in the mouth.
